Insulated Verandah With Merbau Decking

Challenges

The client wanted to make better use of an unused outdoor area in preparation for their child’s birthday party. They envisioned a space where family and friends could gather comfortably, regardless of the weather. The area needed to be functional, inviting, and completed within a tight timeline to ensure it was ready for the celebration.

Solutions

To meet the client’s needs, we designed and built an insulated verandah with Merbau decking (7.2m x 3.8m) to create a warm and durable surface.

We used three 150x150mm aluminum posts to provide sturdy support, along with a Probeam 140x50mm structure for durability and a sleek finish.

To enhance functionality, we installed edge gutters for effective water drainage and added downlights and spotlights to ensure the space would be well-lit for evening gatherings. The entire project was tailored to the client’s preferences and completed on schedule.

Results

The once-unused area is now a fully functional and stylish living space, perfect for entertaining guests. The insulated verandah ensures year-round comfort, while the Merbau decking adds natural warmth and charm. With the added lighting, the space is just as welcoming at night as it is during the day.
