Challenge
In September 2025, Sam Outdoor Living was approached by a homeowner in Point Cook, VIC (postcode 3030) seeking to transform their 36-square-meter outdoor area into a sophisticated, all-weather living zone. The client envisioned a refined and versatile space suitable for both entertaining guests and enjoying quiet relaxation throughout the year. They required a structure that balanced durability with style—something that could endure Australia’s varied weather conditions while enhancing the overall aesthetics and value of their home. The main challenge lay in designing a solution that seamlessly integrated with the existing architecture, maximized natural light, and ensured thermal comfort without compromising on structural integrity.
Solution
To meet the client’s vision, Sam Outdoor Living designed and constructed a fully customized glass sunroom measuring 8.4 meters by 4.2 meters. The design focused on functionality, energy efficiency, and modern appeal, using premium materials from trusted brands such as Stratco and Palram. The structure featured 50mm Stratco Cooldek insulated roofing panels to regulate temperature and reduce heat transmission, ensuring comfortable use in both summer and winter. Robust 150x150mm aluminum posts provided a strong framework while maintaining a clean, contemporary aesthetic.

A 200mm edge gutter system efficiently managed rainwater flow and complemented the Probeam 140x50mm beams, which offered superior load-bearing capability and clean architectural lines. The standout element of the project was the installation of a high-quality single-glazed aluminum bifold door system. This feature allowed the indoor and outdoor spaces to merge effortlessly, enhancing airflow and accessibility while showcasing the outdoor area through expansive glass panels. To enhance usability and comfort, the sunroom was fitted with six strategically positioned LED downlights, an energy-efficient smart ceiling fan for air circulation, and Palram Ez-Glaze panels that improved light diffusion and UV protection.
Result
Upon completion, the homeowners were thrilled with the transformation. The new sunroom provided a smooth connection between their home and garden, creating an inviting, open environment perfect for entertaining or relaxing at any time of the year. The combination of the bifold doors and insulated materials delivered both visual appeal and practical performance—keeping the area bright and airy during the day while maintaining a comfortable temperature after sunset. Thanks to the durable, low-maintenance materials sourced from Stratco and Palram, the structure is engineered to withstand the elements with minimal upkeep. Today, the space not only functions as a versatile extension of the home but also significantly enhances the property’s aesthetic and market value.
