A Custom Colorbond® Patio In South Morang

Challenge

In March 2025, Sam Outdoor Living was approached by a homeowner in South Morang, VIC 3752, with a clear vision: to convert their backyard into a stylish, functional retreat suitable for both entertaining and everyday relaxation. The goal was to create an outdoor area that could be enjoyed throughout the year—rain, shine, or chill—while enhancing the overall look and value of the property. With a 40-square-meter space to work with, durability and visual appeal were at the top of the client’s wish list.

Solution

After a site visit and thorough consultation, the Sam Outdoor Living team proposed a fully customized Colorbond® flat-roof patio, measuring 12.8 by 3.7 meters. This design was tailored not only to meet the client’s aesthetic preferences but also to ensure long-term performance with minimal upkeep. Using a combination of high-quality materials sourced from Stratco, the patio was engineered to handle the demands of Victoria’s changing weather without sacrificing style.

The patio construction included Colorbond® Trimdek sheets for the roof, chosen for their clean lines and excellent water-shedding capabilities. A sturdy Probeam frame (140x50mm) provided structural integrity, while 90x90mm steel posts anchored the build securely in place. The addition of a 125mm wide VF gutter helped manage water runoff effectively, preserving both the patio and the surrounding landscaping.

Result

Since its completion, the outdoor space has become a favorite gathering area for the family, offering comfort and shade during the summer and protection from the elements in the colder months. The modern look of the Colorbond® finish blends seamlessly with the existing home design, while the low-maintenance materials mean less time spent on upkeep and more time enjoying the space. The transformation has not only improved day-to-day living but has also added long-term value to the property—delivering both form and function in one elegant solution.
