Large-scale Carport Installation In Clarinda

Challenge

In July 2025, Sam Outdoor Living was contacted by homeowners in Clarinda, VIC, who wanted to reimagine a 50-square-metre section of their property. The area was underutilized and provided little shelter, limiting its use for gatherings or daily activities. The client requested a design that would be both highly functional and visually consistent with the existing home. The new structure needed to be durable, low-maintenance, and suitable for use throughout the year, whether for entertaining guests or creating a shaded outdoor retreat.

Solution

After an on-site assessment, Sam Outdoor Living recommended a custom flat-roof carport measuring 5.5 by 12.4 by 7.5 metres. The design focused on strength, practicality, and modern aesthetics. Colorbond Trimdek sheeting was selected for the roofing surface, providing both resilience and a clean finish. To ensure stability, the framework included 90x90mm aluminium posts and 140x50mm Probeam beams, complemented by a 160mm edge gutter system for effective water management.

To enhance natural light while maintaining protection, a 780mm fibreglass skylight panel was integrated into the roofline. Electrical features were added to increase usability: six batten lights for general illumination and a smart ceiling fan to regulate airflow during the warmer months. The combination of materials and features provided a balance of comfort, durability, and modern design.

Results

The completed carport transformed the space into a functional outdoor area that seamlessly blended practicality with style. The clients now have a sheltered environment that can be enjoyed in all weather conditions. The skylight and lighting system provide flexibility for both daytime and evening use, while the fan ensures comfort during summer. The robust materials from Stratco give the structure long-term resilience with minimal upkeep. The homeowners expressed their satisfaction with the outcome, noting how the carport has added both daily convenience and significant value to their property.
